For
the purpose of navigating these last days, the signs announcing the
Day of the LORD (Yahweh) are preeminent among the key signs you need
to know about because they are the most recognizable of all the signs
announcing His arrival in order to consolidate His kingdom reign on
earth (Matthew 6:10; Revelation 11:15). After a great earthquake, the
sun and the moon will be darkened and the stars will fall from the
sky. Who can miss that? Not the wise ones who lift up their
heads because they know that their redemption is near (Matthew
24:29-31; Luke 21:25-28) and not the foolish ones who say to the
mountains and rocks "Fall
on us and hide us from the presence of Him who sits on the throne,
and from the wrath of the Lamb; for the great day of their wrath
has come, and who is able to stand?”
(Revelation 6:12-17).
But who in their right mind is
longing for the day of the LORD? It's not the day of the LORD but
what happens JUST BEFORE the day of the LORD that matters for
believers. For the wise it's the age-old hope of redemption when
Messiah descends in the clouds for His elect so His angels can snatch
them away from danger to be with Him forever. For the foolish it's a
heart-pounding terror of devastating wrath that will soon burst upon
the world "just
as it happened in the days of Noah"
and "as
it happened in the days of Lot"
where God's faithful ones are
rescued
just in time before God pours out His wrath on His enemies. Part ONE
begins to explain
that in more detail. This is just an overview. But for those who need
to know more about the day of the LORD, you'll find links below for
deeper study. For those who are familiar with the day of the LORD, go

for deeper study:
Here’s an old gem for your
consideration (click the link). It’s a balanced
article written
over 100 years ago that
explains some
of the darker Day-of-the-LORD “wrath”
elements mercifully blended with the brighter hope of redemption in
Christ. While searching for a dependable source on the Day of the
LORD to share on this site, I learned that thousands of books and
articles have been written by academics, Pastors, Evangelists,
professors, trustworthy authors and not-so-trustworthy authors. A
search on the phrase "Day of the LORD" in my iPad Bible
turned up 26 hits. It's not surprising that this topic is at the same
time one of the most written about themes in the Bible but
also
one of the least known among the majority of believers. It's not
surprising because it's not easy to face these horrible events that
are coming for most of the world’s population. But it occurred to
me while writing this little piece that there is one huge positive.
HELL, according to the Bible, will be much more severe and longer in
duration than the PAYBACK that "draws
near on all the nations"
(Obadiah 1:15; Matthew 16:27). So then, all the faithful ones
who
are not appointed to His wrath (1 Thessalonians 5:9) and who have
seriously considered the Day of the LORD with fear and trembling will
have even more reason to thank Him for the
free gift of salvation because the day of His wrath, the Day of the
LORD will be hell on earth for those who have to stay behind
and
that's putting it mildly. I thank God over and over again
for
His promise to rescue
those who are ready (Luke 21:36; Matthew 24:43-44; 1 Corinthians
15:51-52).
